INTRODUCTION

KNOW MORE ABOUT OUR GRAND EVENT

To address pressing food security challenges, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD) and Self Help Africa, along with key development organizations and private sector actors, are organizing the National Cassava Conference and Expo 2023 (NCCE). This event aims to enhance cassava production, productivity, and value addition while promoting its critical role in ensuring food and nutrition security and driving socioeconomic development across the country.

The trade fair offers a platform for stakeholders to showcase cassava technologies, local processing equipment, branding, and packaging solutions. It will amplify Kenya’s untapped business potential in the cassava value chain, attracting the much-needed investments capable of generating jobs across various sectors in the long term.

WHAT WE DO?

We work to tackle Kenya's food and job challenges by championing cassava cultivation and advancing its value chain through innovation, market access, and financing strategies.

WHAT WE ARE?

We are a collaborative effort led by Self Help Africa, backed by the EU, partnering with stakeholders to enhance cassava's role in nutrition and employment.

OUR AIM & MISSION

Our mission is to establish the National Cassava Conference and Expo as an annual event, fostering partnerships, investment, and awareness for a thriving cassava value chain in Kenya.

MISSION AND AIM

ABOUT OUR EVENT

Our workshop serves as a platform to disseminate cutting-edge technologies and innovations in cassava production, processing, and marketing. It facilitates learning, collaboration, and problem-solving to address the challenges and opportunities within the cassava value chain.

Food and nutrition security in Kenya is challenged by factors such as climate change, emerging crop diseases, and disruptions in the global food supply network.

Cassava, a drought-resistant and multipurpose crop, stands out for its unique qualities and potential to contribute to food security and employment.

Cassava’s popularity has grown steadily due to its appeal among consumers and its industrial applications, leading to increased production and research efforts.

Various development organizations and state agencies, such as KALRO and KEPHIS, are collaborating on models to promote cassava commercialization from seed to market systems.

Regulatory measures, including seed certification protocols, flour blending regulations, and standards for blended flours, are being developed to support cassava’s growth.

NCCE, supported by Self Help Africa and the EU, brings together stakeholders to strengthen business connections, reflect on successes, improve regulatory environments, and promote cassava investment, standards, and national branding.

  1.

The primary goal of NCCE is to establish strong business linkages, foster trade facilitation, highlight achievements, enhance regulatory efficiency, and boost investment in the cassava value chain.

NCCE aims to increase awareness and consumption of cassava through collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and showcasing cassava’s value and potential.
